    OVERVIEW

    Aluminum clad steel wire is a kind of bimetallic wire that aluminum covers on the steel core continuously and evenly. Compared with ordinary aluminum cable steel reinforced, the conductor weight is 5% lighter, current-carrying capacity is 2-3% higher.

    Construction

    Aluminum clad steel strand is composed of stranded aluminum clad steel wires.

    Application

    Specified by power utilities for use in overhead transmission line conductors.Used by conductor manufacturers as the strength member for ACSR and ACSS cables Replaces galvanized, aluminized or misch metal cores when corrosion is a concern.
